Let's define teamwork first. Teamwork is like this.
Pretty good description huh?
So, now that you have that in perspective, think about the theater aspect, you've got your tech team and your actors. Let's focus with your tech team first.
Techies, their job is to put together the set, hang up/prop up the set, fly everything in, light the stage expertly, and make sure the audience can hear everything the actors say and the music. It's a HUGE job. It requires a lot of people coming in, and according to there talents and abilities, they naturally separate into groups. You've got your construction crew, that cuts wood like it's their job to cut wood. You've got your sound group, that artistically, mystically, uses wires, and cords, and all kinds of stuff to make it sound like a freaking masterpiece. (because it is.) Light crew, throws light around like it's an egg, and they have to catch it with a spoon, and we haven't even started talking about the muscle it takes to man the fly rail.
See what I mean? If one of those teams messes up, the whole show is bad. It requires trust, and the responsibility of doing the job right on everyone. And this is just the people who are behind the stage.
Let's talk about them actors.
This picture is a scene from Wicked, the most insane, awesome Broadway show of all time. Now imagine your watching this, and one of the people turn around and face the audience instead of the one the spotlight is on, that would be a problem, cause you would focus on him instead of Elphaba singing Defying Gravity.
Actors have to practice and practice to get their parts right, and they rely on each other to get the parts right because if Actor B forgets his line Actor A is in a pickle.
And I'm saying all of this from some experience, I was in the musical, Seussical, and let me tell you, it was so freaking fun! I loved it, and completely enjoyed myself.

Here I am in one of our numbers, I'm in the mini pigtails, not looking were everyone else is looking, moral of the story look were everyone else is looking cause this pic was in the newspaper!Oh, good times, good times.
I hope this rambling helped you grasp something, that theater is hard work and teamwork, is epic.
Sayanora.
