Social media makes me mad

Hey guys,
So I found something to talk about today...although is not the greatest thing. Let's chat.
We are a society that is consumed by media. In some ways that is a good thing, the masses of unheard finally get a voice. You can stay in touch with people you love, broadcast your talent or lack thereof to people who wouldn't know who you were otherwise, or just shout out your opinion. But be forewarned, media sure as heck can be such a backstabber.
Think, ten or fifteen years ago, if someone did something dumb and was humiliated, they could move schools or towns and be fine and no one would know. But today it might get caught on camera and go viral on Youtube, or posted on Facebook and the story would spread. You can't leave that. Cyberbullying has become a humongous issue, and studies show that kids are more susceptible to depression if they're online quite a bit.
But these points are not my main point. In fact would you like to know why I wrote this? Because people need to learn.
Over and out.
Love,
Cailin

Happy Leap Year!

That was fun.
Anywho, I have yet to find something really cool to write about today. I am just really tired...not gonna lie. I worked Friday, Sunday, and Tuesday. And it's pretty tiring......
That is what I wanna do right now.
So....fun blogpost to come later today.
Ta-ta.

My wondermous weekend

Hey guys,
  First off,
    You know who you are.
Secondly, I want to tell you all about my reallyawesomespectacular weekend that I experienced. On that Friday after school I went to work from six to nine, and after that, I went to an event at my church.
This event was called Friday Night Fights. They had cool pro bikers come to our skate park, fail wrestlers that failed at impressing me fighting wise and failed to impress me acting wise. All of my friends were there and say it was SOOOOOOOOOOOOO much fun to be around them and just laugh and chill and be weird, well that would be the understatement of 2012.
And then Twenty One Pilots got on the stage. Now, I had heard nice things about them, but I had never heard them before. And let me tell you. Wow. Ohmigirlscout. Let me tell you, for a two man band, they're awesome!

The two men. Josh Dun and Tyler Joseph.
Based and loved in Ohio, I have to say: props.
Back to my story, while the drummer (Josh) is completely knocking all other drummers out of the water, his stick breaks. It's pretty common, he just grabs another. So I snagged it off the stage. You might've called it 'stealing', but hey, how upset are you when someone takes something that you broke?
They had a line of people who wanted things signed, pics taken, etc. I stood in line and when it got to me, I had them sign the stick, and mentioned how my best friend was a drummer and they were like 'yeah?' and then I said it was a requirement and then Josh says, "Can I be your best friend?" And I was like, "Of course!" And then Tyler was like, "What we can't be best friends?" It was adorable and made my night and they're wonderful.
And this was just Friday.
On Saturday we got up rushed around and cleaned the house, at  lunch we went to an Italian place and met my inlaws (stepdad's family) and had a lunch with them and the Everetts. The Everetts are like my favorite sort of people, we met them at SOS when they were campaigning for their organization, Destiny Rescue. After a very belated birthday party, where I did a lot of blushing and cake eating, we went home and just hung out. And it was fun.
Sunday we went all the way down to Kentucky because my stepdad was speaking on Destiny Rescue and I helped at the booth and a TON of people sponsored kids, bought jewelry, and did what the right thing was.

That was kinda all I wanted to say.

Think big thoughts and dream big dreams.
Over and out.

The Spork

So I was thinking about sporks.
And I asked myself, "Self, where did sporks come from, why were they made?" Thus I did what any sane person would do. Ask Google. Then Google said. (Chris McCarter actually but via Google.)
"the spork was invented not in the '60s, but in the 40's. when the us army occupied japan after the war, gen mcarthur (who wanted truman to enthrone him as emperor of japan) decreed that the use of chopsticks was uncivilized, and the conquered foe should use forks and spoons like the rest of the 'civilized' world. but fearing that the japs might rise up and retake their country with their forks, he and the us army invented the 'spork,' which was then introduced into the public schools. the army, which had taken over all government enterprises and the schools, enforced the use of the 'spork,' and made the use of chopsticks in the schools a punishable offense. this is a bit of spork history that's absolutely true, but not very funny."

Isn't that crazy? Us Americans were not the brightest. Take us over with forks? Please. Honey. (I don't think so.)

Idea of the Day: Somebody pretty please have a restaurant, call it 'The Spork,' and only serve food that can be eaten with sporks, sporks only will be used, and have a black and red theme. And then tell me, so I can eat there.

Alright.
Over and out.

Paper Towns

So I read this book.
I read this book because I love John and Hank Green's vlogs on Youtube so when I saw his name on a book, I thought, "Why not?" I read this book late into the night, fighting against the melatonin I had taken previously. Mr. Green had gotten me with the candlestick in the ballroom, I was hooked. I loved the honesty that is his style of writing, I don't think he can pull off a different brand. However I didn't like all the cussing and nonchalant underage drinking, yeah I know that is just a fact of life to some people, but why so much in a fiction novel?
I gave this book three stars. One, because it was compelling, kept me interested to the disastrous end. (Not at all what I expected or wanted.) Two, I enjoyed the story, he is a good writer. And three, I liked how the story turned from Quentin finding Margo, to Quentin finding himself.Which is really cool.

I would recommend this book to twentyish people with a more philosophical take on life.
Over and out.

Cailin
P.S.
Thanks for the views, it really brightened my day.

I am makeup-free

Makeup. Americans spend 20 billion green ones on, you guessed it, makeup. Which is ridiculous, I don't think we spend that much on food, or our kids. It's LUDICROUS. But stats are stats.
I don't think we would spend half as much money on makeup if we didn't feel like we need it, but we are surrounded by propaganda that screams, "OMIGRAVY COVER THAT GHASTLY FACE IN FOUNDATION."
We are surrounded by computer-generated images and told, this is what real people look like, beautiful look like, good luck accomplishing it. We are told that the solution is makeup. We strive for the impossible, and beat ourselves up when we can't achieve it.
My personal opinion? God made you a certain way, maybe he wants you that way. Now, I do not have anything against makeup, but ask yourself this, is it accentuating you, or covering you up? I think if it is the latter, and you feel like you have a really low self esteem, give it up for a week, see what you think then.
As you can tell by the title, I don't really wear makeup much. Like on Saturday and maybe Sunday. That's it. Why? Because I have to wake up at 5:30 in the morning. And I don't want to try in the morning. So I shower and do something with my hair and that is the time I would use for makeup. And honestly, I'm just fine without...
Hope I poked at the noodle in your noggin.
Over and out.

I have answered the ultimate question.

It's a question I have been asked dozens of times. What do you want to be when you grow up? I have finally discovered the answer.
I want to be an occupational therapist.
Now occupational therapy is therapy for those recuperating from illness that encourages rehabilitation by performing the activities of daily life. (That is the official definition.) I found out about it because my brother is under-sensory and he in fact goes to an occupational therapist once or twice a month. My mom suggested I meet her, so I did. It was there that I found that her job was cool. And it helped people.
With all of that said, I want to be an OT, and double major with Spanish. There you go. What do you want to be when you grow up?
Over and out.

Life is frustrating.

    I am not happy today.
1. My fish died. (RIP Merlin, I love you.)
2. I miss two days of school and my grades drop substantially. (AAAAAAAHHH!!!)
3. No one is viewing my blog. I mean NOBODY.
4. Friend issues. Not fun friend issues. Like hey, I feel on the outside of this pack you created in fourth grade, can you please think I'm cool enough to be in it, to be invited by you places?!? Do I have as many friends as I think I have, or am I just delusional?
5. It has not been a good weekend, and it should have been a good weekend because I had Monday off. But it wasn't.

*Blowing off steam* I feel like I'm in the middle of a crisis, ya know? I don't know what to do....
Comment, I changed the settings so anyone can.

A note, pastors, Jeremy Lin, and illegal downloading

Hey guys,

*NOTE* I really don't like how you guys really don't like when I talk about my personal life, or when I actually just tell you what's going on with me. Not happy. So this blog is coming in three parts.
Part 1:
Anyways so if anyone checked my twitter account I say that I am a:
"Blogger, actress, theater geek, coffee enjoyer, Christian, and I can and will talk to complete strangers..." I practically promised that I have the ability to talk to anybody without feeling nervous or awkward. But every superhero has there cryptonite. I in fact, can feel terribly awkward talking to my pastor.
Not because my pastor is weird, but there is this sort of one-sided relationship between you and him because he goes up on the stage and talks about Jesus and breaks the ice with a few puns and you feel like you know him.But he has no idea who you are, and I don't enjoy those sort of one-sided relationships, I really don't, but you've kind of set up this wall between you and him and waltzing up and just chatting with him breaks the wall into smithereens, so sometimes I get a little nervous talking to pastors. That's my story for the day.
Part 2:
I had not heard of Jeremy Lin until a person I subscribe to did a video on him. Being no basketball know-it-all, what I have gathered is that he is a basketball superstar in China. Like ridiculously good. However the Chinese government has not been broadcasting his games for two debated reasons.
One, is that he might be Taiwanese, and there is this tension going on between who Taiwan belongs to, China or themself.
Secondly, he is a Christian. He speaks of how he wants to be a pastor. Now, the Chinese government has made it 'okay' to be whatever religion, however people are still persecuted in China for being Christian and the official religion is atheism. (Post about China soon to come.) Lin's extreme popularity and his extreme Christianity opening other people's minds is probably freaking the Chinese gov't out. What's your opinion? Comment or tweet at me.
Part 3:
Illegal downloading. It is causing mass hysteria in groups of rich people. Middle class just shrugs. But is it a big deal?

I have never really illegally downloaded anything....wait never mind, that was a lie. Okay, I have never illegally downloaded a song, movie, or tv show. Which people who have record labels have a cow about.
This guy here has a lovely analogy on the whole situation and I agree with him completely.
So happy websurfing.

Creativity, Leadership, and a Pickle

I am a creative person.

I am a mild extrovert.

It's a weird combination.

With this mixture I love creating cool things in a group, and by myself. I'm...I'm...odd. Yep. Like, when someone asks you, are you a pessimist or optimist, I'm kind of like...um? Because I'm more of a balancist, when you're pessimist, I'm positive. When you're overly optimistic, I am a bit more negative. See?
When I am in a group, I look to see, is anyone going to lead? If no one does, and if everybody is looking around I just kind of take charge. If I know the people, I suggest that the artsy kid does the poster, musical kid does the music-related jazz, and the smart quiet kid orchestrates the writing. I'm often left without a job, and then am further nominated to be person checker/cheerleader. And I'm an annoying checker and a pretty good chearleader, if I do say so myself.

It makes you ask, what makes a good leader? What makes everyone look over at you, and say 'Congrats Leader'...? I think it takes humility, courage, compassion, an open eye and heart. I'm working on that.
Classic leader. Dave and the Giant Pickle, true story, true story.

I know you guys like it when I talk about serious stuff. I'll make up for it later today.
Over and out.

Cailin

Jobness, Respect, and other idears.

Hey there, gee, didn't think I would EVER feel good yesterday. Well today I feel a bit better despite a dentist appointment. Anyways, MOVING ON!

Jobs I would never in my right mind apply for:
1. Dentist. I will never get paid to inflict pain on people.
2. Family photographer. Eh. Uh. Nope, nope. I don't work well with kids that don't like me in the first place. Ehhh.
3. Vet. Noooooo. Nooooo. I would keep all of the unwanted animals and it just would be, bad.
4. Cook. Yeah, that is a really stressful job and I don't deal with stress well...
5. President. Um yeah.....you're pretty much the scapegoat for the country. And you don't get paid much.
6. Astronaut...too scary...not possible in 2012 anymore.
7. Pluto. You get unnoticed and unrecognized just because you're a bit away from a star. (That was a joke, laugh...)
8. Wedding planner. Can you spell stressful job?!?
9. I'm out by this point.
Second, I have found something new to respect: ukuleles. (My school is cool enough to have a uke club.) Ukuleles have moved from a toy to a tool, musicians have picked it up and given it a name, like Julia Nunes and Jake Shimabukuro. So I have indeed found myself eyeballing the instrument. All who play the uke, props. Props....
Another thing I have began to respect is Youtube. It has opened up this whole other world where EVERYONE can participate, you don't need an audition, you just need a massive group of people who think you're the bees' knees (I don't understand that phrase.....). Musicians, actors, and general performers have it much easier than before, just upload a video of yourself doing what you do best and in a few moments, *BING* instant feedback. And people have started video blogging with a script, turning a three minute video into a production, THESE young fellows in the future will be making (hopefully) a lot of our lovable and inspiring movies. (Like Nemo....)
SO much love for Disney and Pixar movies. SO MUCH.
Something cool, I got a twitter so now I can be a twit and tweet, if you want you can follow me. I don't really care. (The word 'twitter' is hyper-linked if you can't see that.) On that happy note I have run out of lovely things to talk about.

I LOVE YOU GUYS!!!

Bleh.

So...how was your Valentine's Day? Mine was with this lovely thing called a stomach virus. I had this yesterday AND today. Happy Birthday to me. So tomorrow I get to go to school and have a boatload of homework. And I don't feel good. Yeah so. Tiredness.
So happy Valentine's Day. Hope it was nice.

Seniors, snow globes, and Ellen

Okay so I did not blog yesterday or the day before, and don't stab me in the eye, because I have a good excuse, well, with yesterday, not the day before, I don't really have a good excuse for that.

YESTERDAY. I got home from school, really pumped cause we had a pep rally.
-And the fact that it was indeed Friday. (Hallelujah! FREEDOM!!!) So I started to do what I usually do on such a sacred day, I eat food, watch my favorite vloggers, blog, read my favorite blogs, repeat. I do this for a couple of hours. However my bliss was ever disturbed because my sister brought friends home for a project and took away the computer to use it for her project and never gave it back. *Sniffle.*
Okay so I was thinking about class scheduling and what classes I need to take as a junior so I know what classes to take as a senior, and I realized, this whole high school thing sucks. Freshman year, you go to school and meet all sorts of new people, and it's scary and fun and exciting. And for me I met a lot of seniors and when they left I hugged them all and cried over them, yeah, cause I'm a crier. Then when you're a sophomore you think you know it all, and in some things you really do (and in some things you REALLY don't) and it's fun. But when you're a sophomore you're saying goodbye to people you've known for two years. And when you're a junior, (I'm not a junior so this is all speculation) you're like get me out of this freaking town this sucks. (If you disagree, my bad.) And you say goodbye to people you've know for three years. And when you're a senior, you have to say goodbye to your whole class! People you've grown up with, with the thought that you may never see them again. Why do they make a system were you're intimately involved with people and you never see them afterward, they're just a part of your story you don't relive again. It doesn't make sense to me. Maybe to some logical person who has more fun things to monologue about, it does, but to me, no.
Hey guys guess what? IT SNOWED!!!!!!
It's kinda been snowing off and on like we're in some sort of snow-globe and it snows and settles and God comes back and shakes the snow globe again. So that's what's happening...without the earthquakes. (Cool people use double contractions...)
Last but not least, Ellen Degeneres. She was hired by JCPenney's to be a spokesperson, and apparently some people are pissed. OneMillionMoms, are a group that is determined to have her sacked. Because of her sexual orientation. What is this? Yes she is openly homosexual, and has a wife, and maybe you don't want your daughter following her lead, but she is still a person. She has feelings just like everybody else, and if I were her I would be really upset. She was on Covergirl and other companies and nobody had a cow, why now? She was Dory in Nemo and NOBODY cared. EVERYBODY loved her. Give her a rest.
Now, to be accurate, I'm not like yay, homosexuality is all good, but I think a person is a person, and people should treat people like they want to be treated. Alright.
Over and out.

Cailin

Swimming lessons, logging, and tv shows.

So first off, how was your day? My day was alright, kind of, I mean it was kind of....mediocre, sadly.
Anyways so I have a beta fish, his name is Merlin. His fake plant just broke and now I have to buy him another. And that's not half the trouble. He doesn't like swimming. For real. He just likes sitting on a bed of fake rocks. He's a fish. Mind you fish are supposed to swim. 'Swim like a fish.' I'm considering paying someone to give him swimming lessons.
Secondly, I have been toying with the idea of purchasing a video camera and starting up a vlog. Now, I am the proud owner of a BLOG. So I've just been...considering it. I mean although it is a lot more work, and time, and patience, and skills that I lack, it would make me more prominent in the world and I can get some of my points across.
NEVER FEAR! If I DO get a vlog, you will be the first to know and I will keep up with my blogging as much as I do today.
So NCIS, a wonderful tv show is having it's 200th episode. Ohmigravy. So pumped. Right now.
My favorite tv shows...
NCIS: CBS's greatest idea. I love all of the characters for different reasons. They have great screenwriters and actors. Which makes for a great show, no?
Psych! USA Network's hidden gold, I love this show because it is funny and lighthearted with alot of mystery. The only thing you miss out on is the blood and gore you see in CSI....and I love missing out on that!
I Love Lucy. A total classic. I love that show alot. *Sniffle* they don't make TV like they used to.

Okay that's all the time I have for today. OH WAIT!
Note to Viewers: Please comment and or follow me. I only got two people following me guys, and no comments. If you agree or disagree say something! Okay I'm done.
Over and out.
Love,
Cailin

Where did You go

I'm chasing Tomorrow.
I'm running, running, it's an arms reach away.
Tomorrow why don't you stay?
Because I'm being chased.

Yesterday is after me.
Come, remember...it whispers.
Of honeysuckle, chocolate chip cookies,
Sunshine, arguing, rejection, loneliniess,
Divorce, death, oh dear, I'm stuck!

Yesterday gets larger and larger,
Tomorrow get slimmer and thinner,
A vicious cycle spinning out of control
I'm chased and chasing,
A damsel in distress in the making.

"Tick." Goes the clocks.
I look beside me, there's someone at my side.
A watchdog that follows me and asks not a question.
He growls at Yesterday and it backs a bit away.
Today, my watchdog, a knight in shining armor.

This is the end of my tune,
I ask you please, go sit on a dune.
And think of me, running, running,
Think of me running, and I ask you please.
Do not forget me. Do not forget me and Today.
Please.

That was a poem I had to write for English. Hope you liked it. SO...

Musicals make the world go round

Okay blogsters, I feel much better after a lovely dinner and some much needed ice cream. I wanna talk about musicals. There is something that just connects you to the music and makes your heart swell, so I thought I would post some of my favorite videos of musicality. Enjoy!

This is a picture. Not vid. Just fyi.

One of Disney's classics, with a sweet message.
I could spend an entire post on classic Disney music. Ah yes.

Oh my goodness, she so good.

These two bring tears to my eyes every single time. Oh my gosh.

My mom saw this. I didn't. I hope to change that.

This scene gives me goosebumps. I like all of the music in Phantom of the Opera though.

This song is amazing. No lie.

I sure hope you enjoyed that. I sure did.
Over and out.
Love,
Cailin

Oy!

That is how my Aussie friends greet me, I always say hello back, because I don't feel cool enough to say that back.  I know, I'm an embarrassment.
Anyways,  today's a Tuesday, I know yay. So much yay. And I don't feel good and I don't know what to write, but I want to have a consistent post cranked out close to daily. I konw, it's a high goal. I. Am. Trying.
So I decided to use my blog as a form of complaint. I know. I'm sorry. Tomorrow will be better. But you see, my birthday is coming up. and people have started asking me, Cailin, what do you want for your birthday? And I'm like, ummmm....oh look my muffins are burning! Gotta go!
So, I haven't really decided what I'm going to say to these people, I...I don't know. I really don't. And I don't feel good at all. I just want to go to sleep. But I won't because my mom will be mad. And whack me...
So viewers  I would just like to say:
Anyway, tune in next time when I have something important to say. Not going to fall asleep. Not going to fall asleep. Not going to fall asleep. Not....not....not...
Over and out.
Lots of love,

Starting trends and taking names

First off, I'm very proud of that post title thing. I hope you got that. Yep...

Second, I am the proud owner of a fedora. Got one yesterday. You are jealous. Because everything looks more attractive in a fedora. You can't deny it.
Don't deny this kitten viewers, don't deny it.
On that happy note I just want you to know that I have found the most wonderful person in the world.
He is in fact a vlogger, he vlogs about....I dunno, he doesn't really have one main thing...He just...is. He lives in the magical world of UK. He has an adorable accent. He plays the ukulele and attempts the unicycle every now and again. I think he has got a lovely voice and he's very enjoyable. He's probably gotten more marriage proposals than your average Joe.

Dude, he has his own Muppet. I want one. So bad. So bad. Hey viewers, my birthday is coming up very very soon. So if any of you can make a muppet....I look like this.
Homecoming pic. Yep.
*Sidenote * I will be
in
days. (*excited scream* Okay sidenote over...)

So my friend Loren (shout out to Loren real quick) was like 'this is kind of creepy but I saw your blog and checked it out and it was cool.' And I was kind of like 'cool'...and I tried to look like this:

But...I probably looked like this:
Yeah that made my day. So thank you, Loren, for making my day. You're a cool kid.

Moving on, yesterday while buying a fedora, I found the DISNEY STORE OMIBACON! I flipped. I screamed a couple times. I probably broke my sister's arm. It was great. But the only issue I have is that there were no teen sizes for the princess dresses. The Disney company would have an increase in costume sales if they made teen sizes. SO, therein lies my beef.

So viewers, comment, follow, and please petition teen sizes.
Thanks.
Over and out,

My favorite Princess Movies...

First, off this was inspired by the longest married couple ever, 78 years. Props guys, definite props. You put the Ever in Ever After.
Okay off to my favorite princess movies: (not in particular order)
1. Princess Bride

This movie is amazingly funny, it's been around for decades and it is doubtful that it will ever lose it's loving audience.
2. Beauty and the Beast
Hey, I'm a classic sorta girl.
3. Princess Diaries
Your classic rags to riches sort of movie. A very nerdy girl discovers she is in fact a princess of a quaint little country called Genovia. This movie is the bomb. Not gonna lie.
4. Tangled
I am in love with this movie. I am in LOVE with this move. Yep. That's how I roll.
5. I'm pretty sure these are princesses
This is like, every girl's show. No joke. Ask a teen girl about Gilmore Girls, they'll flip.
I hope you have a magical day,
Cailin
