How I blog and a Boycott on Normalcy

So. I've been thinking and prepping for my daily post. And I got: nothing. And I'm very strict when it comes to preparing to blog. Here are my five steps:
  1.  Turn on some Over the Rhine and Colbie Caillat. (They're cool.)
  2. Check out Joe Boyd's blog. (If you clicked on the link I had on yesterday's post, you would've seen his blog.) And a few others, I like getting the different flavors of blog.
  3. Check out Dan Brown's vlog. (At this point I have an idea in my head.) I haven't found any other really good vloggers, if you know of some. Comment. Speak. Let your voice be heard.
  4. Scour Google Images to find some funny pictures to go with my idea. (Usually I look for pictures of cats, cause frankly, I'm a nerd.)
  5. Formulate a bit in my head and BINGO. I write. Then I post. Then I pray someone is bored enough to stumble upon my blog.
However I didn't get far today. My ideas kept going all over the place. And then,
SPLAT!
(I told you.)
I had this AHA moment. Every person, at some point in their life, detests normality. They don't want to be associated with it. They scream every time they hear the word. I have a friend like this, she wears mismatched earrings and does her best to keep from being symmetrical, because she fears being written off as unoriginal. It has gotten so big nowadays, that we have a term for those in pursuit of such.

Associated with big glasses, sweet tea, and vintage clothes this demographic has no admission fee, they just want to look different, wear glasses without being judged, and be individual. And it has caught on.
(The funny thing is hipsterism has caught on so quickly that it is becoming 'mainstream.' Oh the irony.)
There is another group of people who don't directly pursue this lack of normality, they are drawn to the idea of difference. The idea that things are different, that people can fly on pieces of wood. That boarding schools can be fun.
That just happened.
And this group of individuals has found some identity in the books, movies, robes, and scarves, of Harry Potter.
And these guys make a lot of money off of them.
So I ask you, join me in my boycott on normality. It's all up to you. You can turn yourself around, just wake up in the morning and say to your self, 'Self, I'm going to do something fun today. Something that I love to do, like wear a beret and play chess with old people in a park. Or make a fish aquarium, putting the entire cast of Nemo fish in such an aquarium. (That would be quite a few fish.) Or grow a garden of different colored tulips because you like tulips. Or whip up Korean pancakes. Do something you love. Because when you do what you love, people can tell that you're no run of the mill person. You're you.
Love,
Cailin
