The Idealist's Nightmare

 An idealist. Idealist-(noun) a person who is guided more by ideals than by practical considerations. And let me make it clear that I am an idealist, in love with the idea of love, of the perfect Disney happily ever after endings and that is part of the reason why I love musicals. They wrap everything up so nicely. But one musical just messes with that, so much. And that bothers me, so much. Folks, let me introduce you to:

   People die, people cheat on each other, people lie. And they sing about it. Don't get me wrong, it's not a bad musical, and when it comes out at Aves Theatre, you better be there, but.... It doesn't have that warm happy feeling inside. It has more of a gritty this is how the world works but it's true smooshed inside fairytales. And I think that would be how, if life was a musical, it would be.
